Admin Jobs – How men should dress for a job interview.

Admin Jobs – How men should dress for a job interview

Congratulations, you just got the interview you have worked so hard for. Now it’s time to plan exactly how to dress for this interview. Research shows that 80% of the first impression an interviewer gets is visual and formed in the first 2-3 minutes of meeting you. Unfortunately people do judge a book by its cover, so lets figure out how to make that cover shine.

Check out the video for some great tips… Also please read below for more great details.

Check out the folling tips on how to dress for an administrative job interview:

  • In general, your dress should be consistent with the organization, the position and your likes.
  • A job interview can be either business formal or business casual. However, unless you are told specifically that the interview is business casual and you can dress “casually and comfortably”, plan for business formal attire.
  • For any profession, you should dress conservatively whenyou go for an interview. Even if the company’s dress policyis fairly relaxed, you always need to dress professionally for theinterview.

- Business Casual:

  • Business casual doesn’t mean that you can dress carelessly. If you are not sure what to wear, stick with white shirt and dark pants. Or else, you can wear a nice knit top with or without a nice jacket and a pair of pants or skirt.

- Business Formal

  • The most acceptable colors for men’s suits are dark blue, grey, and brown. Suits should be properly tailored and dry-cleaned.
  • Always wear a white, cream, or pale-blue shirt. Make surethe shirt is pressed.
  • A silk tie makes the most powerful professional impression. You tie should complement your suit and be conservative.
  • Wear leather shoes in black or brown. Shoes should beshined.
  • Socks should be in dark color and complement the suit.Don’t wear athletic socks.
  • No rings other than wedding ring or college ring, nonecklaces, earrings or chains.
  • If you have a beard, make sure it is trimmed.

6 Ways to Stop Getting Flustered During Interviews

After hunting down jobs, tons of updates to your résumé and going to more networking event than you could have imagined, you’ve finally got an interview. After brief small talk you are completely tongue tied… it is not like it is a hard question that was asked. You just got flustered!

In stressful situations like interviewing for a job, people often fall back to filler garbage words such as “like”, “umm”, “ahh”,  “you know,”or “actually,” and even strage sounds. Anything to slow the progress and regain their train of though.

We have all done it before… probably during a regular conversion you might use a few of these words.  The real problem comes from using them too much and at the wrong times. Use these words to often during a job interview and you might be viewed as a person who has difficulty organizing your thoughts or someone who has trouble focusing.  Issues that probably will not land you the job you are hoping for.

Self-awareness is a crucial step toward solving these speech patterns that disrupt the flow of a conversation, so here are six tips that we hope will help.

6 Ways to Stop Getting Flustered During Interviews:

1. Discover your verbal communication issues: by recording yourself as part of a mock interview. That way you can go back and listen for where you stumble and what common filler words you use..

2. Prepare simple notes: Notes that are about yourself and keep them tucked neatly inside your portfolio. Discreetly refer to your notes to keep the flow of conversation going smoothly.

3. Remember on your breathing: By actively remembering to take replenishing breaths between phrases so you can use complete words instead of sounds (uhhhh breathe).  This slows down your conversation and allows you concentrate on what you’re going to say next.

4. Change distracting behaviors: Try to smile instead of laugh… this takes practice but replacing your distracting behaviors with pleasant ones will help you connect with the interviewer.

5. Wear a watch or ring: Use it to fidget it with descreatly. Studies show this actually increases focus on your current thoughts.

6. Join a speech group: This one is key, just practice practice practice.  By forcing yourself to give speeches it leads to practice and great improves in your verbal communication skills.

With these tips your “ahh” and “umm” days are over.   Good luck with your job hunt and thanks for reading.

Answering Hard Admin Job Interview Questions

This was our first, of many to come, AdminJobstar.com articles.  The article is titled Answering Hard Interview Questions and that is exactly what it is about. Because any interview can be challenging, even if you have been through many interviews before… it can be tough.  One way to prepare yourself is to practice answering the hardest interview questions.  Check some of the toughest questions on AdminJobstar.com : the Search for a Great Job is on.

1.  Tell me about yourself. To answer this question well, stay focused on the things you have done professionally  that you feel passionately about.  But be ready to give the interviewer a  two-minute answer about the kind of worker you are…they don’t need to know your life history or a laundry list of your hobbies and activities.  Use examples to back up your answer.  Your answer should tell the interviewer that you are great at your job, you love your work, and are therefore the best person to hire.

2.  What is your greatest weakness? Frame your response as it relates to the work you do.  Be honest, but show how you have worked or are working to overcome the weakness.  Some career coaches recommend that you answer with a strength instead.  This can work, but you have to make sure you sound genuine.  If it sounds too good to be true, the interviewer may feel hesitant.  And interviewers don’t hire people who have lie to them.

3.  Where do you see yourself in ten years? To answer this, focus on what you think is an achievable career goal within this specific organization and then explain how you think you will get to that goal….
